What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic Family Support Worker to join our school, Green Wrythe Primary. The successful candidate will work closely with parents and carers to help overcome pupils’ barriers to learning, whether inside or outside school.

Green Wrythe Primary is a successful and unique school consisting of two departments, Ark and Rainbow, and was rated Good in all areas at the last Ofsted inspection in April 2023. Ark is our one-form entry mainstream school department. Rainbow is our specialized education department for 59 children with autism.

As a Family Support Worker and Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a vital role in motivating, challenging, supporting, and inspiring our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers to support pupil development.
  • Identify and address barriers to learning and work with pupils and families to develop effective strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure coordinated support for pupils.
  • Provide guidance and support to families on educational and social issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and interventions with pupils and families.

Qualifications and Training:

  • Relevant qualification in family support, education, social work, or related field.
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead Certificate
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children and families in an educational or social care setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing support strategies.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Personal Qualities:

  • Empathetic and approachable.
  • Resilient and able to handle challenging situations.
  • Commitment to upholding the school's ethos and values.
