We are recruiting a Family Support Worker to support the emotional and social wellbeing of our pupils. We are looking for someone who can build trusting relationships with both parents and pupils to help engage them with their education.  You will be part of a team that supports our most vulnerable pupils both in and out of the classroom.  You will work closely with teachers to oversee academic progress, monitor behaviour and attendance and help pupils with particular challenges that create barriers to their learning and wellbeing.

The successful applicant will have experience working with families, vulnerable people or children, supporting them with social, emotional, and mental health needs.  A knowledge and understanding of local resources and community and statutory services, including Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Health, CAMHS, and school and voluntary services would be useful as would an understanding of the Early Help Process.

Upton St James is a wonderful, inclusive school on a small site with a huge heart. We are based in a Victorian school building but hold modern, nurturing values. Our strong Christian Ethos helps to create a warm, calm atmosphere, whilst priding ourselves on our high achievements. The Academy is part of the St Christopher’s Trust - a family of 19 Church and Community Schools spanning three local authorities and providing a rich network of collaboration.

In joining us, you will be part of a friendly and welcoming staff team and a supportive community. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in an environment that has a strong focus on support and CPD whatever career stage you are at.

When completing an application please ensure you address all aspects of the person specification and list any additional strengths.
