Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and leading engaging forest-based activities;

What the school offers its staff

Vacancy Details

St. Luke's Academy, rated 'Good' (Ofsted, 2022) is a vibrant, thriving and rapidly improving specialist school in Swindon, providing education for secondary-aged children with social, emotional and mental health needs. We have small class sizes, of between 4-8 students – very different to a mainstream school – but our students are worth it – and we are committed to helping each of our students reach their full potential.

We have a very motivated staff, who create an inspirational learning environment and we now have an exciting opportunity for an adventurous individual, who is passionate about working outside of the conventional classroom and embracing outdoor learning, to join our team as an Instructor of Forest School.

This is a challenging but rewarding role, so we want you to know that you will be well supported by a brilliant Pastoral Support team and Specialist Teaching Assistants.

Do you think you have what it takes to make a real, positive difference?! We have fun while we work, so a good sense of humour is important!

If you are not already Team Teach qualified, you will benefit from receiving this training. In addition to this, you will be kept up to date with the latest educational initiatives and benefit from a strong induction and support programme.

You will be passionate, inspiring and:

  • Able to lead groups of students in forest school activities;
  • Ideally, hold a relevant qualification;
  • Able to plan and teach well-structured lessons;
  • Possess excellent communications skills;
  • Be experienced in working with children/young people, ideally with those who display challenging behaviours;
  • Be ready to get involved and get stuck in;
  • You will set high expectations for all
