What skills and experience we're looking for

One or two roles available – a French and German Teacher (0.5 FTE), or a French Teacher (0.3 FTE) and a German Teacher (0.2 FTE).

Required for September 2024, well-qualified and enthusiastic French and/or German Teacher(s) at this successful 11-18 girls’ grammar school in Reading.

Graded ‘Outstanding’ in its recent OFSTED inspection, Kendrick School is a centre of academic excellence with a track record of high performance and achievement.

French and German are valued subjects at Kendrick School. All students study both French and German in Years 7-9 and must study one language at GCSE. A number of students study French and German at A-Level and some go on to study a modern language at university. All our staff are subject specialists with a wealth of teaching experience.

The successful applicant(s) must be able to teach French and/or German at KS3. The ability to teach at GCSE and A Level in either language is an advantage but not essential.

Kendrick School is a welcoming, inclusive and happy community, with students who are engaging, cooperative and eager to learn. Benefits include an Employee Assistance Programme, free car parking, a contributory pension scheme, training and development and use of the swimming pool and sporting facilities.

The Ofsted report in November 2022 stated:

“Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary both in lessons and around the school. They respect and exemplify the values within the school pledge. Pupils love being here. Attendance is high, pupils are punctual, and lessons are free from any low-level disruption”.

“Pupils respond to teachers’ very high expectations. They enthusiastically engage in debate and discussion and immerse themselves in all that the curriculum offers. They become confident independent learners, achieve exceptionally well and are very well prepared to become exemplary citizens”.
