Full Time Reception Class Teacher

- Starting November 2022 OR January 2023
If you are an experienced teacher of Early Years, this is an outstanding opportunity to teach Reception in a small village primary school within a very supportive community. We prioritise the education of our youngest children, ensuring that the Reception class size does not exceed our Planned Admission Number of 15 each year, and that a full-time teaching assistant works alongside the teacher too.
This small-scale approach gives our Reception children a real opportunity to thrive, and has resulted in excellent outcomes for them for a number of years. Now that our experienced Early Years teacher is moving on, we are seeking a committed teacher, with a passion for a child-centred Early Years curriculum, to continue this approach and develop our Early Years provision further.
Pensford Primary is a small, rural school on the outskirts of Bath and Bristol. We are very welcoming and friendly, with excellent relationships with our parents and wider community. We currently have 98 pupils on roll, including our Duckling Class of 13 Reception children.
We are seeking to appoint a full-time, experienced EYFS class teacher, ideally from November 2022, to teach that class and lead some subjects across the school. These subjects are open to negotiation and will depend on the successful candidates’ particular areas of expertise, as well as the needs of the school. Experience of teaching Key Stage 1 is also desirable, as is a good knowledge of the Read, Write, Inc phonics scheme. A keen interest in outdoor learning is also something we will find in the ideal candidate.
Pensford Primary School is part of The Partnership Trust, which is a multi-academy trust with strong emphasis on pupil and staff wellbeing, and high expectations for all children. All staff in the Trust benefit from 24-hour, 7-days per week access to the respected Education Support package, as well as open opportunities to contribute to the Trust’s development, high-quality CPD and opportunities for career progression.
The Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Thank you for your interest in working at our school. We hope that the following information provides you with a useful insight into our bright and vibrant school.
Pensford School is a co-educational primary catering for children between the ages of 4 and 11 years. Currently we have 4 mixed age classes (Year R, Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6). It is situated 6 miles south of Bristol on the A37. Our period buildings have had extensive refurbishment over the past few years and provide attractive, contemporary learning spaces. Our grounds have been redesigned and developed to create a stimulating outdoor learning environment.
In June 2019, we joined The Partnership Trust, which is a multi-academy Trust.
We enjoy close links with our local community including established collaborative partnerships with other schools in the locality through which we endeavour to deliver the best outcomes for all primary age children in the Chew Valley area. The collaboration supports working with a range of professionals and building skills as well as opportunities for all staff. The children in our communities are at the very heart of everything we do within the school and the cluster.
Our vision for Pensford Primary is to be a high achieving, vibrant learning community in which children are nurtured, motivated and have outstanding expectations for themselves and others. We believe that every member of our school community has a right to achieve their potential in an atmosphere which balances challenge with support. We aim to provide a climate for learning, which engages, inspires and motivates children.
We believe that strong and effective home-school partnerships are essential to the successful academic, social and emotional development of the children in our care. We work hard to ensure parents and carers are involved in our school at many different levels by holding curriculum workshops and encouraging parent helpers during the school day, being involved in the PSA (Pensford School Association) and on the governing body.
We have very high aspirations for all of the children and staff in our school. The entire school community works together to ensure that the children reach their full potential. Our goal is to develop life-long learning characteristics in children that encourage self-leadership skills, helping each child to feel successful as individuals, learners and critical thinkers.
If you want to be part of a forward thinking and highly motivated team then we anticipate to hearing from you. We look forward to reading your application and hope that the information we have shared so far has given you a good indication of the opportunities open to those who would like to join us on our Journey to an Outstanding judgement.
