Gatehouse Primary Academy 0.6FTE SENDCo (with optional 0.2FTE across the Trust) job summary

The First Federation Trust is looking to appoint from January 2024, a SENDCO based at Gatehouse Primary Academy. The role includes

- 0.6 FTE at Gatehouse Primary 

- 0.2 FTE  at 2 smaller schools within the Trust (Lady Seawards and Rockbeare Primaries)

We would be interested to hear from candidates who wish to apply for either or both roles, please clearly indicate on your application.   Ideally we will appoint an experienced and qualified SENDCO, but if you do not hold the NASEN qualification, we will support you to achieve it. 

Gatehouse Primary Academy is a large school with a commitment to inclusion for all children.  The school has pupils with EHCPs and on SEND support plans and those whom receive in-school support for additional needs.  We are looking for someone who has high levels of self-organisation, enjoys communications with a wide range of stakeholders and believes in teamwork and collaboration.  You will, in turn, work with a really supportive staff and leadership team, and benefit from opportunities to work with other schools across the trust.

The First Federation has been at the forefront of primary system change and wishes to continue to push the educational boundaries in order to improve children’s lives.

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Have an exceptional understanding of teaching in the primary phase
  • Have SEND experience
  • Have an excellent understanding of the SEND code of practice
  • Have both an excellent understanding of pupil progress and a willingness to embrace change
  • Be open to new approaches to learning and teaching
  • Be an excellent team player
