‘Working to Learn Together’

Here at Newby & Scalby Primary School we provide a vibrant and inspirational setting and due to our popularity our catchment area covers right across Scarborough town and beyond.

Our learning environment, outcomes and curriculum that is offered to our 417 children is second to none and we are a school with low staff turnover and high staff retention.
Our ethos is very much about our community ‘working to learn together’ and our staff are our greatest resource. We have invested in both our teaching and support staff teams which has placed us in a good position with regards to current educational challenges.

As the founding primary member of the Scalby Learning Trust we are working closely with our sister school Friarage Primary as we share learning and build a primary hub our coastal area can be proud of. With access to the Teaching School and the Teaching Alliance through our Trust we continue to rightly place staff development, training and resources at the heart of our journey.

Our Opportunities
Due to continued investment we are looking to appoint highly motivated colleagues to join our school and work with our children and provide the support they need to be their best. We are looking to recruit a General Assistant to join us as soon as possible in January.

Working in our school is incredibly rewarding as we all work together as part of ‘Team Newby’ enriching the education of our pupils. Our support staff are highly regarded and we pride ourselves on developing our support colleagues to excel and further develop their career through specialised training and career paths through to ATA, HLTA status and teacher training.

We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for education and wish to work in a setting which offers reward and challenge and where no two days are the same.

Successful candidates must hold English and Maths GCSE level ‘C’ or above or equivalent. While each post is different we are looking for the following for all posts.

You will:
• Ideally have previous experience in working with children and young people
• Be able to support in the delivery of high quality learning experiences for all pupils
• Be supportive, nurturing and understanding
• Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience
• Work well as part of a team
• Demonstrate good communication skills both orally and in writing.

We can offer you:
• A warm, happy school where we value our community ethos and have a philosophy of treating each other with kindness and respect.
• Happy, enthusiastic and well behaved children
• A school at the very heart of the transformation that is taking place in our coastal area
• An opportunity for you to continue on your journey as a school professional – with the support, training and resources our school and Trust have to offer.

Join our school and make a real difference to our children and your career in an area that offers so much!
