Role Overview: As a Geography Teacher at Chiltern Hills, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Geography lessons and supporting the overall development of the Geography department. You will also have the opportunity to teach up to KS3 in another subject.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach effective, creative, and varied Geography lessons tailored to the needs of students.
- Plan, resource, and lead fieldwork across all key stages of Geography.
- Support the Curriculum Lead and Geography staff in raising attainment and achievement in Geography.
- Contribute to the review and development of departmental schemes of work with colleagues.
- Ensure pupils are assessed in line with departmental and school policy.
- Attend and contribute to Geography department meetings and other relevant meetings.
- Follow departmental policies and self-evaluation processes, contributing to their development as needed.
- Promote Geography within the school and assist other staff in doing so.
- Maintain personal development and expertise by staying up-to-date with current subject matter and initiatives, and accessing appropriate training.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, ECT will be considered
- Specialism in Geography with the ability to teach up to KS3 in another subject.
- Proven experience in planning and delivering engaging Geography lessons.
- Strong commitment to raising attainment and achievement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lead and organize fieldwork activities.

Chiltern Hills Academy is a Church of England, co-educational secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. There are circa 1025 students on the school roll, approximately 100 of whom study in the sixth form. Chiltern Hills Academy converted to academy status in 2011 and is jointly sponsored by the Diocese of Oxford and Buckinghamshire County Council.
We are situated in the market town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire in the Chiltern Hills, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Situated close to the M40 and the M25, Chesham is on the end of Metropolitan line of the London Underground and is 28 miles north-west of London. There is ample parking on-site. Renting here is cheaper than in central London and if you enjoy travelling, it takes about 40 minutes by car to Heathrow.
The Elgiva Theatre, Lowndes Park and an open-air heated swimming pool are just some of the many public amenities available in the town. Chesham is renowned for its community spirit and there are many recreational and community groups catering for the diverse and active population.
