Geography Teacher (Maternity Cover) job summary

The Reach Free School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher of Geography to join our team of talented, energetic and visionary teachers for a maternity cover. 

We are looking for a teacher who has a passion for geography and demonstrates excellent classroom practice. At The Reach Free School we offer a dynamic Key Stage 3 Humanities curriculum covering topics from Nigeria to Antarctica and Rivers to dynamic Asia. Pupils enjoy using their geographical skills and understanding in the other Humanities subjects and synoptic links are encouraged and embedded throughout the programme of study. You should have a good understanding of Geography's context in the wider school curriculum.

Geography is popular both at GCSE and A level where the AQA syllabus is covered. All key stages benefit from a number of enrichment activities including trips and building penpal relationships with a school in Kenya. You will hold a passion for building opportunities for pupils to learn beyond the classroom. You should also have a good understanding of the potential of technology to enhance learning. 

The ability to teach multiple disciplines in Key Stage 3 Humanities would be beneficial, but is not essential for this post.

The Reach Free School is an 11 to 18 school in Rickmansworth, which serves pupils of all backgrounds and abilities. Opened in September 2013, the school was founded by a group of teachers and local parents in response to a significant demand for more secondary school places in the area.
