Who we are:
Southfields Academy is a thriving non-selective secondary academy located in south west London. It has recently undergone complete redevelopment and benefits from the cutting edge in sporting facilities, art, design & vocational technology facilities, spacious and bright communal areas and classrooms. All of which are equipped with the latest technology and designed by our staff and students to ensure their fitness for purpose to educate the children of today and future-proofed for the children of tomorrow.
The Geography department has a high profile and is popular amongst the Academy's students. Both GCSE and A Level Geography are in popular demand. In recent years, several students have gone on to study the subject at Higher Education and we as a department want to continue this trend. The department has a positive culture of engagement from students at all levels and we ensure our own experiences and passion for the subject forms the foundation of our lessons and schemes of work. All students are taught Geography from Year 7 onward and take their options mid-way through Year 9.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a motivated and inspiring Geography teacher to enthuse and engage students across the ability range. The ideal candidate will be able to use creativity to develop rich and exciting lessons to cater for all students. The successful candidate will be ambitious and adaptable, with excellent planning and classroom management skills. Planning, forecasting and keeping to deadlines is an attribute we would see in the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be required to teach some hours of KS5 travel and tourism. This teaching role is suitable for an NQT.
