What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an excellent Geography teacher to join our team and teach up to KS5. The Humanities department also includes subject-specialist teachers in RE, History, Psychology and Sociology. We are a hard-working, passionate and welcoming team, and this is an excellent place to develop your teaching and share expertise with other experienced members of staff.
The Humanities department makes challenge for all the centre of their pedagogy and strives to make lessons enjoyable for students to encourage a love of learning. We are keen to run trips and extracurricular activities to offer pupils new opportunities, developing pupils’ cultural capital. The department has seen a growth in the number of students choosing options within the Humanities disciplines, both at KS4 and KS5, so joining us now could offer some exciting prospects.
You will have excellent subject knowledge, as well as knowledge of the Geography national curriculum and AQA specification for GCSE. The role will involve working as part of a team to implement and adapt schemes of work and assessments from KS3 to 5 when required. Experience leading or undertaking fieldwork is desirable.

What the school offers its staff
Highcrest offers both an excellent induction and support programme for ECTs and an innovative and extensive CPD package for more experienced teachers. This provision of training has been praised as outstanding by an external assessor and highlighted in the local press. For ECTs, we provide weekly CPD meetings with experienced members of staff, time-tabled and protected Mentor Meetings on a weekly basis, subject knowledge time with departments and an extensive personalised CPD plan.
