GET INTO TEACHING AT QUEEN ELIZABETH’S: trainee teachers required for September 2025 job summary

One of the country’s leading academic schools, Queen Elizabeth’s Barnet blends a distinctive heritage and proud traditions with an innovative, forward-looking approach to providing a state education like no other to 1300 boys aged 11-18. Our ‘outstanding’ status was emphatically validated by Ofsted in May 2022 and we are also The Sunday Times State Secondary School of the Year for 2022.

More information about our school is available at www.qebarnet.co.uk.

We are looking to support talented and ambitious graduates to join our staff team whilst working towards Qualified Teacher Status on one of the employment-based routes into teaching.

Recruitment is now open for September 2025 entry. Applicants with a successful background in any of the subject disciplines relevant to the School’s curriculum will be considered.

Government funding is typically available in some subject areas for some candidates (click here for more information). Information about funding for the 2025-2026 academic year is available here.

During the 2024 to 2025 academic year, the Government offered bursaries of:

  • £28,000 in chemistry, mathematics and physics
  • £25,000 in biology, design and technology, geography and languages (including ancient languages)
  • £10,000 in art and design, English, music and RE

Applicants may be eligible for a bursary if they have 1st, 2:1, 2:2, PhD or master’s.

In addition, the following scholarships were offered in 2024-2025:

  • £30,000 in chemistry, mathematics and physics
  • £27,000 in French and German

The School has a long-established and successful approach to teacher training with a high percentage of former trainees securing permanent roles in the school post qualification. With access to our outstanding package of high-quality continuous professional development and support, many have then progressed quickly to leadership roles.

Applications will be considered as they are received . Prospective applicants are welcome to address any questions they may have to recruitment@qebarnet.co.uk.
