Governance Assistant
Are you looking for an interesting and rewarding part-time role that will make a real difference to Matthew Arnold School and its community? Acer Trust is looking for a Governance Assistant to help Matthew Arnold School Governing Body to fulfil its important role in the education of our pupils and students. You do not need any education experience for this role; you just need to be highly organised, able to take good minutes and good with people. We can provide all the training and support that you need, including the opportunity to train as a qualified governance professional.
This role is to support Matthew Arnold School working about 150 hours over the year. The Governing Bodies meet six times per year, usually on a Thursday evening. The meetings take place at Matthew Arnold School. You will work with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors to plan the agenda and circulate papers, attend the meetings to take minutes and support the Chair in ensuring the smooth running of the meetings, and make sure that Governor records, training and checks are up to date.
Excellent governance ensures that our schools are well led and deliver an excellent education for all the children in our care. In this role, you will work closely with our Trust Governance Support Manager, who will provide advice, guidance and support both to the you and the Governors, to ensure effective governance.
We are looking for someone who is professional and reliable, and has excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills. You will be a proactive self-starter with the ability to manage your work within a highly flexible environment. Governing Body meetings are planned a year in advance and the successful candidate will need to be available for these evening meetings during term time, but otherwise the workload is highly flexible and can be undertaken at home or in the office, at times to suit you.
