Governance Officer job summary
Job title: Governance Officer
Reports to: Head of Governance
Hours: 14.4 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
Location: Wickham Common Primary School, Gates Green Road, West Wickham BR4 9DG
We are seeking a highly organised and detail‑focused Governance Officer to support and strengthen our Trust’s governance arrangements. Working closely with the Head of Governance, you will provide high‑quality administrative, compliance and development support to Trustees and Local Governing Bodies, helping ensure effective, compliant and well‑trained governance across the Trust.
This varied role includes coordinating governor and trustee recruitment, induction and training, maintaining accurate governance records, supporting meetings and committees, and monitoring compliance requirements such as DBS checks and registers of interest. You will also act as a key point of contact for governors, trustees, clerks and school leaders, offering guidance and advice as needed.
The post is part‑time (14.4 hours per week, 39 weeks per year), with one on‑site day per week, some travel across Trust sites and occasional evening work.
If you have experience in governance or education administration, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a strong understanding of confidentiality and compliance, we would welcome your application.
