What skills and experience we're looking for
- Relevant NVQ 2 (Social Care/EFYS/Learning and Education)
- GSCE Grade C (4/5) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Experience of working with people who have special educational needs.
- Experience working with children and as part of a team.
- Willingness to gain knowledge of learning processes and needs of specific children.
- Essential personal skills and qualities: Clam and patient, empathetic, organised and reliable, resourceful and flexible, tolerant, effective communications skills, sense of humour (or appreciation of), resilience, emotional intelligence and have a good understanding of the need for confidentiality.
What the school offers its staff
All staff are welcome and encouraged to increase their knowledge and skills through CPD and we have an HR system that allows staff to request training courses that are on offer from external providers.
The nature of our pupils and their needs means that some situations can be upsetting and challenging. Our Senior Leadership Team operate an open door policy and are available to speak to regularly, staff are also entitled to access counselling through the well being package offered by our staff insurance provider as well as other services such as - but not limited to - physiotherapy and a 24 hour GP service.
Our pupils are incredible, they astound and amaze us on a daily basis, there is a great deal of fun, joy and laughter and no day is the same as the one before. Our staff are key in supporting our pupils, and their families, in creating a routine and space in which our pupils safe and free to thrive. As an all through school, this means that our staff have the opportunity to share key moments in their lives - from first steps through to Prom.
