Graduate Literacy & Library Intervention Co-Ordinator job summary
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated and innovative Library Intervention Coordinator to join our school.
Main areas of responsibility:
• To support and develop pupils’ learning and research skills and independent study and to develop the reading culture within the school
• To lead and improve the use of the Thinking Reading, Accelerated Reader and Star Reading Test programs
• Managing the Thinking Reading, Accelerated Reader programme and the STAR Reader programme and monitoring its impact
• Leading and managing the Library Resource Centre including selecting, acquiring, organising, and disseminating learning resources
• Controlling the lending and return of learning resources in a range of formats
• Ensuring that Library Resource Centre materials are returned to appropriate locations within the building; shelving and straightening stock as required
• Promoting the Library Resource Centre in and around the school via displays and encouraging reading for pleasure by facilitating reading groups, participating in external initiatives, and organising extracurricular activities such as author visits, trips etc
• To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality and to report all concerns to an appropriate person as soon as they arrive.
We are looking to recruit a Graduate Library and Literacy Co-Ordinator who:
• Educated to Degree level or equivalent
• Have a previous record of good work, punctuality and attendance
• Be able to work on their own initiative and under pressure
• Be willing and flexible – ‘nothing’s too much’ is a desirable attitude
• Take pride in the quality of their work
• Be a team player
• Be honest, reliable and trustworthy with confidential information
• Have patience and show understanding of the needs of vulnerable students with whom they will be working
• Experience in working with young people with special needs is desirable but not essential
• ICT skills are essential
