What skills and experience we're looking for
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the PE department in the delivery of a high quality curriculum
• Plan and deliver expert, high quality lessons and extra-curricular clubs within a variety of activities for a range of ability students aged 11 – 18 to support the PE department in the delivery of a high quality curriculum
• Organise and lead on fixtures involving taking students/teams off-site schools on a weekly/regular basis. Maintain positive links with local schools and organisations to ensure opportunities for students are available.
• Run and lead lunchtime clubs in a range of sporting activities for both genders.
• Take some responsibility for the organisation and upkeep of equipment and assist with col-leagues, where necessary, in the preparation of lessons/clubs
• Maintain high standards and expectations of behaviour in accordance with school ethos and procedures
• Contribute, where appropriate, to the smooth running of a busy PE department, be proactive and show initiative with the daily tasks to support colleagues (this may include assisting with lessons, preparing equipment/resources, washing kit)
• Be responsible for promoting and ensuring the safeguarding well-being of students and have a good understanding of Churchdown’s current safeguarding policy.
• Promote extra-curricular and sporting achievements of students on school’s social media and within the community.
DESIRABLE NOT ESSENTIAL QUALITIES:
- Current and valid minibus driving licence.
- Current and valid first aid qualification
- Trampolining qualification
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning
- Significant coaching experience with secondary age students in a range of sports for both genders.
- A sport-related degree
