Graduate Teaching Assistant job summary

We are looking to recruit two Graduate Teaching Assistants to join our team to offer specific support for students with English, as an Additional Language.

This is a post ideal for someone considering a career in teaching and full support would be given if this were appropriate.

34 hours per week – part time will be considered. Hours of employment will be:
3 days (8:30 – 3:30pm)
2 days (8:30 – 4:15pm)
Please note this role requires a high degree of flexibility over the exam season.

To teach, support and assess EAL pupils in all subjects, across the full age and ability range present in the school in order to ensure the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being.

To be able to work closely with the English department in order to collaborate on teaching, planning and learning so all EAL learners are being taught in line with the new GCSE English specification requirements.

To demonstrate that measurable progress in student attainment has been made through your support and to impact positively upon students’ attitudes to learning.

To assess students who are EAL and new to the school and plan withdrawal lessons according to their needs/requirements.

Assessing new EAL learners who arrive with little or no English. Displaying an understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report student’s learning effectively to the EAL Co-ordinator.
