‘Living, learning and Growing in God’s World’

‘Two unique schools, one Federation Family’

Courage, Love, Respect and Friendship underpins our school community and life at Hackness C of E Primary School is full of fun, hard work and delightful children that make all our staff proud to be teaching and support professionals.

Along with our sister school Wykeham C of E Primary we have a strong, secure and forward thinking Federation that has benefited our staff team of 20 both in terms of shared working and professional opportunities. Our staff travel not just locally, but from Whitby, Pickering , Scarborough and the East Riding.

Our learning environment and education provision that is offered to our 70 children keeps the traditional village primary school successes while at the same time embraces the future. Our teachers benefit from a large team of highly skilled Teaching Assistants that play an important part in school life. Life at our school is calm, purposeful and enjoyable.

We have smaller than average classes, and highly supportive staff, governors, families and community. By having two distinct schools working as one, this has allowed our EYFS, KS1 and KS2 teachers to share work load, curriculum ideas and best practice. After a period of change under our newly appointed Headteacher we are moving forward, and we are excited to have this unique opportunity to work in our stunning school.

Being part of such a unique setting will not suit everyone. This is more than just a job. You will be required to be flexible in your approach, take ownership of fresh thinking and look to continually seek improvements throughout the school, in order to enhance everything we do for the children, ourselves and our community. In return, you will be fully supported, given space to breathe, and be recognised as an individual within an amazing team. You will also benefit from a wealth of different experience between the staff and governors. You will become part of a very special ‘family’.

Our opportunity

Due to a change in contract for our current Year 3/4 Teacher we are looking for a talented teacher to join us in this class and teach on Thursday and Friday (0.4).

You will also have PPA time on Wednesday afternoon in addition to your two full teaching days.

Being a job share teacher has many benefits not just for you, but also for the children. One of the benefits is being able to share and collaborate with your fellow class teacher on curriculum, planning, assessment and resources.

 We are looking for:

·       A skilled professional who has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching and can differentiate across a mixed age range.

·       Someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure all our children achieve their very best, and promotes academic excellence

·       A teacher with a flair and passion for primary education who will embrace working and teaching in our school.

We can offer you:

·       Delightful children who respect each other, have a thirst for learning new things and a staff culture which allows new members to thrive and develop.

·       Opportunities to further develop your craft and a leadership team that will support your ideas and use school resources to help your career aspirations.

·       A village school where staff tell us they ‘have tailored professional opportunities and are encouraged to play their part in our distributed leadership structure.’

·       Children who love being here and in their words ‘Hackness is a happy school and we learn from each other’.

 Welcome from our Executive Headteacher

Welcome to Hackness and Wykeham Church of England Schools’ Federation and our schools Hackness C of E School and Wykeham C of E School.  I am really proud to be the Headteacher of two delightful village schools that are unique and distinctive in their own right – but are very much one family.  The decision to federate Hackness and Wykeham has paid dividends, and allowed us to share resources, teaching, curriculum ideas and partnership working to benefit our children and the communites we serve.  Hackness is a small C of E Primary situated in the village of Hackness and in the North Yorkshire Moors. Wykeham School is situated in the village of Wykeham and only 6 miles outside Scarborough. Both schools have three mixed classes which makes our teaching and support staff roles in our childrens lives very special indeed.

Our very creative staff have a real love of teaching and we are looking for a future member of our team who can develop that sense of awe and wonder in children. The children at both schools are delightful, happy, confident and energetic. They are passionate about their learning, be it in the traditional classroom or through drama, music, dance and painting. We are looking for someone who can embrace these aspects of the curriculum as well as literacy and numeracy.

Teaching in a village school can of course be challenging at times particulary when you are teaching a mixed class. What you can expect to join is a teaching team that shares resources, planning and will support and encourage you at the times when you need it the most. Our teaching assistants and support staff play a huge part in our school – and will help you as you immerse yourself into being part of our school.

We are fortunate that we have two school environments that mix the traditional school village feel along with making sure we have a tailored curriculum that allows us to give our children the opportunities that they deserve.

We welcome visitors and hope that you will come and see for yourself what a happy place our federation is and what makes us the schools of choice in our local area.

Please contact James to arrange a visit – I look forward to meeting you.
