What skills and experience we're looking for
Handyperson / School Caretaker
Lydiard Park Academy are currently seeking to appoint a self-motivated, trustworthy and dedicated Caretaker to deliver a high level of site maintenance and facilities tasks.The potential candidate would benefit from experience of working as a caretaker and/ or a trade background.
Working both as an individual and as part of a team, you will carry out a range of tasks to facilitate an ideal teaching and learning environment for all staff and students.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours: 37 per week
Salary: Trust Grade 7 – 10 (£23,516 – 26,285 FTE)

How will you be the change?
As a School Caretaker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school premises ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for staff and students, the role is active and will require multi skilled handyperson duties.
This role will include opening and closing the site, site security and term time keeping on top of the general maintenance and school set ups, out of term time you will be participate in planned works.
Able to work unsupervised you will be self motivated, have good communication skills, with a clean driving license and basic DIY skills.
Schedule:
• Day / Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime
• Weekend availability - Regular weekend working will also be required to ensure site safety and oversee lettings.
This is a full time; ongoing position and your working hours would be on rotating shifts Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm & 2pm to 10pm and rotating Saturday mornings.
The ideal candidate will have some flexibility to assist with cover needs which arise during the course of work. Some weekend work may be required if contractors are on site but this would be on an occasional basis throughout the year.
What does it take?
School experience isn’t necessary (preferable) but transferable ‘handy-man’ skills are essential. Caretaking experience is preferred, however similar experience will be accepted and knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations will also be beneficial.
