What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, successful teacher to lead the Additional Learning faculty across our school. The successful candidate will teach Art, Photography, Textiles and Food in our secondary PRU provision from Years 8 to 11. You will lead a team of qualified and skilled teachers in Phase 2 and Phase 3, our medical tuition provision. This provision supports students of both primary and secondary age and so the post holder also needs to be able to support with planning for primary students when needed.

We have high expectations for all students to achieve strong qualifications at the end of Y11, despite challenges they may have previously faced in a mainstream setting. You will be key in supporting staff to deliver quality outcomes, developing an innovative and engaging curriculum and promoting high standards of teaching and learning.

A values driven practitioner, you will be confident in building trusting relationships with young people who have been, or are at risk of being, permanently excluded. You will work collaboratively with other leaders in the school and will have the opportunity to help develop our curriculum for all learners.

What the school offers its staff

The Voyage Learning Campus is an all through PRU made up of medical tuition and provision for students from Y1 to Y11 who have been, or at risk of being, permanently excluded. We serve the whole of the North Somerset community and have established excellent relationships with specialist and mainstream schools across the authority. You will be joining a supportive staff body and a collaborative Senior Leadership Team who are well supported by the Management Committee. We are ambitious for our provision and for the students we serve and expect all staff to share in that ambition.

We encourage any potential candidates to contact us to arrange an initial meeting/telephone call with the Principal. Visits to the school are also welcomed.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Voyage Learning Campus is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and children. All appointments are subject to all necessary pre-employment checks including; an enhanced DBS, Prohibition check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable), qualifications (where applicable) and satisfactory references.
