Head of Art and Design job summary

An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced and dedicated teacher of Art and Design to join our team as Aspire Academy as Head of Department.

The Head of Department is responsible for all aspects of the work of the curriculum area or areas which form their designated areas of responsibility. The core focus of the Head of Department’s role is raising pupil achievement. Central to this is leading and guiding staff working within the designated curriculum area(s), and, in so doing, fostering an environment within which teaching and learning is the key priority with a desire for it to be of the highest possible quality and each member of the team is able to develop to the full the pupils in our care.

This role is an additional responsibility in Art and Design providing clear direction and a sense of purpose and leading and developing the aims and ethos of the school. This role will be integral to a students experience of school life and will need to take responsibility for student progress and welfare for a year group while contributing to the quality of pastoral care.
