What skills and experience we're looking for
Experience, Knowledge and Understanding
A good degree in Art or related subject.
Qualified Teacher Status.
A commitment to continuing professional development activities.
Experience of successfully teaching Art across KS3 and KS4
Experience of successfully teaching Photography at KS4.
Experience and understanding of effective curriculum planning and assessment in Art at KS3 and KS4.
Teaching and Assessment
Ability to plan and teach consistently excellent lessons.
An understanding a range of effective Assessment for Learning strategies.
Ability to assess student work accurately and precisely using criteria.
Ability to motivate, engage and enthuse students, thereby forming effective professional relationships.

Salford City Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Head of Art and Photography. We wish to appoint a truly outstanding individual to lead the department. The right candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead subject improvement and the resilience to deal with the challenges of the role. We are looking for a curriculum leader who can support us in the next stage of our journey to consistently promote a culture of excellence and strong GCSE outcomes in Art and Photography. We are looking for an excellent subject leader who will be responsible for the leadership of the Art and Photography department. You will lead a team compromising teachers of Art and a specialist teacher of Photography. To be successful, you will lead the Art and Photography department with confidence and conviction and will be passionate about the power of education to transform lives. You will demonstrate impeccable professionalism, unwavering determination, and relentless optimism. Able to lead by example and be a source of inspiration, you will support and guide colleagues whilst demonstrating a love of your subject to cultivate a similar passion in your students. Furthermore, you will have the highest expectations of every student in terms of achievement and conduct.

Salford City Academy is highly ambitious and very successful 11- 16 academy which is part of the United Learning Multi- academy Trust. In February 2022 Ofsted judged the academy to continue to be a good school citing‘Pupils at Salford City Academy said that they enjoy coming to school to learn. They feel happy and safe at school.’ Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They are polite, courteous and well-mannered. Academic results at the academy have improves significantly from 2019. We were delighted to celebrate well above average results in 2022 and this summer we continued to achieve within the top three schools in Salford. Results in Maths and Science place us in the top 20% of all schools in the country.
