Head of Arts job summary

This is an exciting time to join Aureus School as we grow into our fifth year. The Head of Arts will be responsible for the strategic lead and management of a small, but growing team of experienced and dedicated teachers. This is a rare leadership opportunity to provide clear, effective guidance to colleagues, developing their teaching practice and maximise standards of student attainment.

The Head of Arts will be responsible for the expressive and creative curriculum in addition to the co-curricular programme of artistic events such as art exhibitions, whole school musicals, dance shows and choral evenings. An inspiring leader, technically knowledgeable with a passion for promoting and delivering the school-wide participation in the Arts that is a hallmark of an excellent Arts Department. In this crucial role, the Head of Arts will lead a team of Art, Music, Drama and Dance teachers and promote active involvement from the School’s classroom teaching staff in arts activities and events. Strong communication skills will be essential as the post-holder seeks to develop the interest and involvement of students, parents and colleagues in the ever-evolving artistic culture of this new school.

Aureus School is a state of the art comprehensive 11-16 school that opened on the Great Western Park, Didcot, in September 2017.
