Head of Biology job summary

From January 2021 we require an enthusiastic and well qualified Head of Biology to lead this highly successful department. Cockermouth School is a popular and oversubscribed 11-18 school.

We have a biology department that consistently achieves results well above the national average. In 2019, we were ranked in the top 10% in the country for combined sciences and all three separate sciences; more than 180 students are currently building on their Key Stage 4 success by following an A level science course including over 60 studying biology.

The experienced science team consists of 13 teachers and 4 laboratory technicians; students follow our own schemes of work, and engage with numerous extra-curricular activities offered by the department. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader, an inspirational and outstanding practitioner with excellent curriculum knowledge.
