Job description

This is an excellent opportunity to work within our state of the art science centre, comprising 17 laboratories, a seminar room and large activity area. Our team includes 5 experienced science technicians, who allow for well organised and thoroughly resourced practical activities during lessons. Working together, we aim to ensure that every pupil is inspired and supported to achieve their personal best and are looking for colleagues who share this sense of purpose.

Essential educational requirements

• 5 GCSE or equivalent including English, maths and science

Essential qualifications

Degree, ideally in biology or related field
• QTS status

Essential skills and experience

• Teaching of science at KS3, KS4 and biology at KS5
• Proven track record of successful intervention strategies to improve exam outcomes at KS3, KS4 and KS5

• Excellent subject knowledge
• How effective assessment is used to promote students’ learning
• Understanding of the leadership and management role of a HOD
• Use of ICT to support student learning
• High level interpersonal skills
• Excellent leadership qualities
• The ability to work in a team
• Relate well to young people and adults
