King Alfred’s is one of the largest secondary schools in Oxfordshire with a strong academic history, combining ancient listed buildings with recent capital investment totalling £17 million. The Academy has recently been reorganised from three sites to two sites; this has enabled very significant investment in the two remaining sites. Facilities for students and staff are excellent and include: new purpose-built teaching rooms for Faculties, a new Dining Hall, improved leisure and social facilities such as a new sports hall and redevelopment of our Sixth Form Centre.
King Alfred’s is in the heart of the local community and has very strong links across many partners in the locality, and particularly with the primary and secondary schools with which we jointly form the Vale Academy Trust (VAT). We continually seek to improve the educational experience for students and reflect upon the responsibility we have as a local employer. At King Alfred’s we are passionate about learning both within and beyond the classroom; enrichment of educational experience is central to our ethos. We are committed to teacher training, the CPD and career development of our staff.
