Head of Character and Culture (RS and PSHE Lead) job summary
Our Character and Culture curriculum is at the heart of our whole school ethos and encompasses Religious Studies, PSHE and Citizenship. Character and Culture education at Acle Academy gives pupils the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work in modern Britain. Character and Culture is a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future in an ever-changing society, to think critically and to reflect on their own morals and ethical viewpoints.
Our Character and Culture curriculum is part of our strong Humanities Faculty and includes a Character and Culture specialist teacher who leads on whole school Personal Development. The curriculum is well resourced and was recently praised by Ofsted, “Leaders prepare pupils well to engage with the changing, modern world. Pupils learn about healthy relationships and discuss issues such as consent thoughtfully. Pupils get wide-ranging and balanced careers guidance for their next steps.”
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic colleague to join a motivated and united team of teachers. The successful candidate will be required to teach Character and Culture at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and a small amount of KS3 History. Applications from candidates who may wish to apply for a part time role would be considered with 0.6 FTE being our minimum requirement. Start date to commence from September 2022 or January 2023 depending on current contractual obligations.
