What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and inspirational Head of Chemistry to lead a well-qualified and effective team of specialist teachers. The successful candidate will teach across the full age and ability range. This post represents an excellent opportunity for a well-qualified specialist to share in the work of this thriving department and would suit an experienced colleague looking to further their career in the profession. This is a full-time permanent vacancy with a January 2025 start. Experience of teaching A Level and a proven track record is essential.

Lytchett Minster is a successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school with approximately 1550 students, 288 of whom are in the successful sixth form. The learning environment is stunning with extensive and beautiful grounds; the school site is comprised of South Lytchett Manor House together with a number of modern extensions including the Arts block and theatre. We pride ourselves on our high standards and positive ethos, the school is popular and highly regarded in the community.

The Science Faculty is a large and thriving faculty with fourteen graduate specialist teachers supported by an excellent team of technicians. It occupies ten well-equipped laboratories within a purpose built teaching block providing first rate facilities well adapted to the needs of the 21st century. The majority of science teachers have their own teaching base and the overwhelming majority of science lessons are taught in laboratories.
