Colchester Academy is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school situated in Colchester, Essex. Colchester Academy first opened in September 2010 and boasts a state of the art building with modern design and a wealth of technology. It is a smaller than average secondary school, with a significant number of disadvantaged students, with the attainment on entry of students is sig – for all year groups. The Academy is expanding. There are currently 763 (Jan 2018) children on roll. Most children speak English as a first language and are white British, with a small percentage of children from other ethnic backgrounds, 16.3%.
This is an incredibly exciting time in our journey, as we are in the process of joining a local Academy Chain, South Suffolk Learning Trust (SSLT).
We challenge students academically as well as providing a range of opportunities for them to receive a well-rounded learning experience. The "no child left behind" approach is particularly important to the school academy, education moves at a pace that allows every child to thrive and help is given to students who feel they are falling behind.
