Full Time, Permanent

At Insignis Academy Trust we are looking for a Head of Department (Computing) for The Kingsbrook School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the founding staff body of this flagship new school in Aylesbury.

Opened in September 2022 to 180 year 7 students, the school will grow by each year of entry until full in 2027-28. Located at the heart of the Kingsbrook Estate in Aylesbury, the school boasts state of the art facilities across the mainstream school and a purpose built Inclusion Unit for children with additional Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to establish, lead and drive culture and practice as the school develops, as a key part of our energetic and passionate team.

The Kingsbrook School requires all of its teachers to be well-qualified, enthusiastic professionals, who are eager and committed to support students’ education. This role would suit a candidate who is ready to take their first step into curriculum leadership or who already has leadership experience. Candidates must show a keen knowledge of computing curriculum intent and implementation.

This role includes the line management of the teachers in the department, the establishment of the curriculum in a new and growing school, strategic development of the subject area in future years and the continued improvement of student’s attainment in the subject from KS3 to KS5 as the school grows. This role also requires a post holder who is passionate about developing the schools CPD offer and the fostering of a school based research culture. We also believe that parents are a key group that would benefit from regular academic information to ensure they understand the way and the information their child is learning.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a criminal record check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
