What skills and experience we're looking for

As a member of The King's School family, you'll have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest and most motivated students in the region. Our comprehensive academic programme is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all areas of life. At The King's School, you'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team of educators who are dedicated to helping students achieve their full potential both within the curriculum and beyond the curriculum. So why wait?

Apply to be a Head of Department for Computer Science today. If you are unsure what The King’s School is like but you are considering applying, please contact the school for an informal telephone conversation or tour of the school to find out more.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Head of Department for Computer Science to join us in September 2024, or before. This is a prime opportunity for a skilled and committed teacher to make significant contributions to the strategic direction and development of a successful department. A full CPD support programme is of course available to the successful candidate.

What the school offers its staff

The King’s School is an incredibly successful and highly regarded school. As an educational institute the school dates back to 1327 and although we are incredibly proud of our heritage, we adopt a forward-thinking approach to education. We are keen to recruit and train our colleagues in order to provide the best possible opportunities for our students during their time in school and beyond.

The School is located in Grantham in Lincolnshire which is a very green county, peppered with beautiful villages. With such a wealth of natural and historic beauty, healthy outdoor activity is ingrained in the culture of the community. Smaller towns, such as Stamford and Oakham, are around 30 minutes away, and the countryside to the west in the Vale of Belvoir is magnificent. The town offers an abundance of parks and has several picturesque walking routes along the River Witham. A baroque palace at nearby Harlaxton Manor hosts the UK College of an American University, and the large National Trust Property, equestrian centre and deer park of Belton House sits to the east. Although a small town, Grantham has its own hospital and a College of Further Education and excellent transport links by road and rail with King's Cross only just over an hour by train.

Commitment to safeguarding

All staff must be committed to safeguarding our community, and to follow school safeguarding procedures.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers. The role is considered a ‘regulated activity’, and therefore check through the Disclosure and Barring Service, including the children’s barred list will be made. The school may conduct online searches as part of our due diligence process for shortlisted candidates. Staff must comply with procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promoting the welfare of students.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, please see www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance.
