We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, well-qualified and inspirational member of staff to be the next Head of our English Department. The successful candidate will be required to lead and manage the teaching of English to A Level by:
• providing strategic direction for the development of English
• providing leadership of a large department which secures:
o high quality teaching
o effective student learning
o the highest possible standards of achievement for all students
o effective use of resources
o the on-going professional development of staff
o effective self-evaluation
Essential educational requirements
Level 6 qualification (e.g. Bachelors Degree) in English or related subject
Essential skills and experience
Exemplary classroom practitioner.
Proven track record of external examinations success.
Teaching English at A Level.
An awareness of curriculum and assessment issues relating to English.
Adapting lessons to meet the needs of both individuals and groups of students.
TLR Payment at 1B (currently £9,927 per annum)
