What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Design and Technology to join our Extended Leadership Team at The Spires College. This is an exciting opportunity to take a new department and make it into something exceptional. It would suit an ambitious teacher who has established themselves as an excellent classroom practitioner and is now seeking the opportunity to develop leadership skills in order to progress their career. Alternatively, there is opportunity for an already experienced Head of Department looking for a new challenge in a school that supports its teachers to thrive.

At the College, we are passionate about teaching and learning and would love to hear from you if you share our belief in the power of education to transform lives. If you are ready for the next step in your career and are dedicated to bringing positive outcomes for all young people then this could be the perfect role for you. We would welcome applications from teachers of any of the subjects that sit within our Design and Technology Department.

The successful applicant will:

  • be an exceptional classroom practitioner, who is able to teach Design and Technology, Textiles or Food Technology across Key Stages 3 to 5;
  • be committed to working in a close, collaborative team;
  • have experience of developing the work of colleagues at various professional stages;
  • have the ability to motivate and inspire others;
  • be able to use a strong pedagogical understanding to develop and ensure the successful delivery of the curriculum;
  • be enthusiastic about giving young people the best possible start in life.
