Head of Design Technology job summary
This is an exciting time to join Aureus School as we grow into our fifth year. The Head of Design Technology will be responsible for the strategic lead and management of a small, but growing team of experienced and dedicated teachers. This is a rare leadership opportunity to provide clear, effective guidance to colleagues, developing their teaching practice and maximise standards of student attainment.
The Head of Design Technology will be responsible for the creative curriculum across all Design and Technology remits, in addition to the co-curricular programme of Design Technology such as the Aureus Bake Off, Eco Fashion Week, The Great Aureus Sewing Bee and The Aureus Design Awards. An inspiring leader, technically knowledgeable with a passion for promoting and delivering the school-wide participation in Design and Technology that is a hallmark of an excellent DT Department. In this crucial role, the Head of DT will be able to create a new team of Food, Woodwork, Electronic and Textiles teachers and promote active involvement from the School’s classroom teaching staff in DT activities and events. Strong communication skills will be essential as the post-holder seeks to develop the interest and involvement of students, parents and colleagues in the ever-evolving Design culture of this new school.

Aureus School is a state of the art comprehensive 11-16 school that opened on the Great Western Park, Didcot, in September 2017. We are excited to collaborate with local stakeholders to shape our offer as a STEAM specialist mixed school to create choice for the wider community in southern Oxfordshire. As a purpose built school, Aureus has brand new facilities, equipment and classrooms using the latest equipment such as SMART TV boards in every classroom and Visualisers enabling teachers to bring learning to life and engage our learners. Lesson planning and delivery is done with ease using the Google Drive and all staff and students are provided with Office 365 professional accounts as a platform for collaboration, sharing and out of school access.
