What skills and experience we're looking for

Required September 2024 to lead the English Department and teach KS3/4 English Language and English Literature as well as English Language and/or English Literature to KS5

Experience of teaching both subjects to KS4 is essential.
Experience of teaching either subject at KS5 is highly desirable.

Due to the retirement of our longstanding Head of English we have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher seeking their first Head of Department post, or for someone who is already a successful Middle Leader, to lead our forward-thinking English Department. The department also leads on whole-school reading as the key to success, across all subjects, and we ensure that students of all abilities are challenged.

We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated and talented teacher who is eager to inspire and challenge: someone who can encourage a love of English and reading and has a passion for learning. There is an excellent induction programme; a wealth of experience in the department; and access to the latest evidence-informed CPD.

We are justifiably proud of our pupils and staff and look forward to working with someone who wishes to share our vision and contribute to our future successes.
