The Houghton Regis Academy has recently made the transition from a Middle School to a Secondary with a new Key Stage 4 provision and plans for future growth. The English Department aims to provide all pupils with an appreciation for the wider world and help them apply their life experiences to broaden their understanding.
Ofsted recently stated that ‘Teaching and Learning is improving rapidly because of powerful leadership. Students behave very well around the school, have positive attitudes towards their learning and feel safe.’ We are very optimistic about the future so if you feel inspired to be part of this journey and believe that all young people can achieve high standards, we want to hear from you.
About you:
As the successful Head of English you will be an inspirational leader, with a real passion to make a difference and an ability to form effective relationships at all levels. You will lead a team of Teachers and work with colleagues and pupils to create an aspirational and successful department to, ultimately, help deliver improved outcomes for pupils. To be successful, you will need to:
• be committed to creating a culture of professional development focusing on high standards of teaching
• be able to enthuse, motivate and inspire staff and pupils alike
• be able to teach English to GCSE Level and be able to lead the subject area.

Houghton Regis Academy is a relatively small, friendly and forward thinking secondary. Last year our results placed us as one of the most improved schools in Central Bedfordshire and we are seeking to recruit a great teacher to join our team.
