Head of English job summary
We are a proudly comprehensive and local community-based Trust. We believe in ambitious inclusion and that every child and young person can achieve great things. As a result, we have a range of schools because we want to be a Trust for local families, whatever their circumstances. Because our Trust schools are geographically close, we know our communities and our local agencies very well. This supports strong collaboration, productive working relationships and access to genuine support and assistance (often not as readily available in larger trusts). Working with extremely talented, driven, and inspirational colleagues, this is a really exciting time to be joining the SEND and Alternative Provision Hub within Maiden Erlegh Trust; which is made up of Cranbury College, Hamilton School and the soon to open Oak Tree School. As Head of English, you will oversee the subject provision across Hamilton School and Oak Tree School. You will ensure high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively, and the curriculum is managed and developed across these special school settings, in accordance with Trust and school policy. You will also provide support with annual departmental plans, appraisals, the resourcing of the department, promote an ethos of teamwork and establish a culture of sharing good practice. You will need the ability to lead and manage people to work towards a common goal, as well as good decision-making skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others. As a teacher, you will have excellent subject knowledge and experience of teaching at KS3-5 and be able to work closely with others. Being up to date with professional developments in English and other aspects of education is equally important. Maiden Erlegh Trust is an Ethical Leadership Pathfinder organisation and we are committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are also committed to having the highest expectations of pupil/students and staff, and supporting everyone to reach their full potential. All employees of the school and Trust are expected to share these commitments. All posts require satisfactory employment checks and references and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. All Leadership roles will require a Section 128 checkAdditional allowances
TLR 2c £7,017.
SEN allowance from £2,270
