What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and highly qualified teacher with the vision and leadership skills to lead the development of the curriculum across Art, Textiles Drama and Music. Outcomes at GCSE are consistently high, with Progress 8 scores above 1.0. The successful applicant will be able to maintain the high standards already set. The role will be available from September 2025. Further information is contained within the Candidate Pack available on the website.

The Head of Expressive Arts will manage all aspects of the Expressive Arts, ensuring continued growth and strong exam outcomes, within these subjects. The role also includes supporting school concerts and fostering the development of clubs, and extra-curricular activities that support the broader artistic and creative community within the school. The successful candidate will teach Drama in KS3 and KS4. Chulmleigh College have participated in the Shakespeare in Schools festival for a number of years and we wish for this to continue.

This is an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to advance their career in a middle leadership role, with the potential to shape the future of Expressive Arts at our school.

The Head of Expressive Arts will lead by example, setting high standards for themselves and members of the Department to deliver the best opportunities and outcomes for our passionate and creative pupils.
