What skills and experience we're looking for

q Qualified teacher with a strong background in working with pupils with special needs

q Experience / training in working with pupils in either the primary or secondary phases

q Successful experience of working with other professionals and agencies

q Additional Qualification in Special Educational Needs

q Experience of managing staff

q Experience of monitoring Teaching and Learning

q Ability to work effectively as part of a team and plan jointly

q Knowledge of current methodology in the education of pupils with special needs

q Ability to work as part of a team and manage the deployment of other adults working in the class.

q Awareness of the role and importance of multi-professional working arrangements

q Ability to compose clear written reports

q Ability to support on teaching and learning , curriculum developments and training across the school

q Able to construct an individualised curriculum / timetable for specific pupils.

q Ability to form constructive relationships with parents


q Commitment to undertaking a detailed induction programme

q Commitment to undertake additional training relevant to the post

q Firm understanding of the subject in relation to pupils with special needs

q Ability to work as part of a team and manage the deployment of other adults working in the class.

q Ability to compose clear written reports

q Ability to support on teaching and learning, curriculum developments and training across the school

q Able to construct an individualised curriculum / timetable for specific pupils.

q Ability to form constructive relationships with parents
