What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational subject leader to join our Humanities Directorate.

The successful candidate will need to be a passionate enthusiast for their subject and be determined to continue to raise standards of teaching, learning and examination performance in Geography. You will be responsible for assessment and attainment across all key stages up to and including Key Stage 5 (if relevant). You will be responsible for managing performance appraisal in the department.

Broadway Academy is a high performing academy in North Birmingham. The academy benefits from state of the art facilities throughout.

Geography within the Humanities Department

You will be joining a supportive and dedicated Humanities department who passionately believe that every child should “enjoy and achieve” in school. The department currently consists of Citizenship, Geography, History and RE at key stages 3 and 4, and Criminology, Law, Psychology, Sociology and RE in the sixth form. As well as striving for academic excellence in school, the department runs a wide range of co-curricular trips to enhance understanding of individual subjects, as well as to improve pupils’ life experiences.

What the school offers its staff

You will benefit from working within a school which encourages staff and students to be aspirational. Staff development is a priority and staff are empowered to continue their own learning. Alongside external training opportunities, the academy has developed an accelerated leadership programme linked to NPQML and NPQSL and offers a range of induction and CPD programmes.

We believe in the potential of every student and we are on an exciting journey to “World Class”. If you are keen to work in a successful and growing academy which encourages staff to aim high in their own careers, this could be a great opportunity for you.
