Head of History job summary

We are looking for a committed and hardworking teacher to be our new Head of History. We are looking for someone with either a proven track record of leadership or real leadership potential to lead the department and ensure that it continues to go from strength to strength. Leadership is all about valuing people. The ability to get the best out of your students and your colleagues is central to this role. Heads of department benefit from high quality line management from our deputy heads and are encouraged to be highly autonomous in terms of curriculum development and the setting of departmental policies. Students enjoy history and achieve consistently very good outcomes in their GCSE examinations. This post represents an excellent professional development opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher of history to develop their classroom practice by working as part of a strong and dedicated team of history teachers, as well as to develop their subject leadership skills and knowledge. Excellent subject knowledge and experience of effective curriculum design are essential requirements of the role. We are looking for someone who loves their subject and can communicate and share that passion with their students, colleagues, and the wider community. We believe wholeheartedly in helping teachers to improve their classroom practice and our CPD programme is incredibly strong. Every teacher gets to work with one of our highly experienced teacher coaches to help them to develop their practice and become the best teacher they can be. We are also committed to exploring evidence based practice and current research in education.
