Here at the Hereford Academy we serve
the community located to the south of the river Wye in the beautiful city of
Hereford. We cater for students aged 11
to 16, striving to provide the
best possible education and equip all our students to be well rounded and
caring citizens who will make a positive contribution to society.
We are part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust, which stretches from the foot of Eastnor castle to the Shropshire Hills, from the Welsh border to the threshold of the Malvern Hills. The Trust is a family of 15 wonderful schools which are spread out across the Diocese of Hereford (Herefordshire, South Shropshire and Worcestershire).

The Hereford Church of England Academy as a Non-Teaching Head of House/Cover
Supervisor/Deputy Safeguarding lead, supporting The Academy to operate
efficiently and enabling the classroom staff to focus on providing the best
possible education for our Students.
This is a high-profile role within the Academy leading one house with pastoral issues. We require a positive role model who knows that excellent relationships are at the heart of developing positive behaviour in our students and who use positive behaviour management techniques and strategies that are consistent with the school’s values and ethos.
Safeguarding and wellbeing of our students underpins everything we do at The Hereford Church of England Academy and the applicant will be expected to support and develop this.
The post holder reports to the Assistant Head Teacher and liaises with other senior and teaching staff. The post will contribute to the overall good order within the Academy, including behaviour management, and promote the well-being and general progress and achievement of students through:

Providing first line support to students and families on pastoral
issues.

Managing a case-load of students, who are allocated to house.
·
Providing achievement, attendance, behavioural and educational
support to students.
·
Working under the instruction and guidance of the class-teacher(s)
to cover the absence of teacher(s) by providing effective supervision and
support for classes or groups of pupils ensuring the
safety, good behaviour and effective learning for all students whilst they carry
out pre-set activities. These classes
may be in any subject area and/or age range and may be on
a planned or emergency basis.

Providing in class support as and when required.

Working as a Deputy Safeguarding Lead of the academy, including
working on EHCPs and p roviding a strategic link between the
Academy and other agencies, parents and carers.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication,
liaison and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage difficult situations
in a firm and sensitive manner. They
will hold Five GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent), a First Aid at Work
qualification (or be willing to train) and will be conversant with Microsoft
Office.
Applicants will demonstrate that they have personal impact, self-confidence and presence, display energy, enthusiasm, commitment and perseverance. Plenty of common sense, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas is essential. Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage.
