Job description

High Storrs School is a very successful high-performing 11-18 comprehensive school in the south western outskirts of Sheffield which has benefitted from a £27m refurbishment of our Grade II listed building and part of the Minerva Learning Trust; an expanding Sheffield based multi-academy Trust with a vision of providing outstanding education for all the students within our schools. The Trust is passionate that all students should see their time at school as happy and fulfilling with their potential developed to the utmost.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and reflective practitioner with excellent leadership skills and attributes as Head of House (permanent) FROM 1 June (if possible) OR SEPTEMBER 2020. The successful candidate will lead one of four vertical houses and have oversight of the well-being and achievement of 240 Students from years 7-11. The House System is well-established at High Storrs School and is integral to our success and positive, inclusive ethos.

Our current Heads of House are also strong teachers with high expectations for all students. Applications are welcome from internal candidates from any subject, or external candidates who teach any of the following subjects; MATHS, SCIENCE, COMPUTING/IT, DT OR FOOD TECHNOLOGY.

Strong teaching experience and knowledge of what constitutes highly effective teaching and outcomes with high expectations across KS3-4. Professional development (pastoral care). Role model to young people. Lead others, be reflective, resilient and adaptable. Knowledge and awareness of good practice in identifying individual student needs. Excellent written, communication and IT skills. Flexible, strategic and innovative. Student monitoring and evaluation. Safeguarding and welfare of young people.
