Head of Humanities job summary

This is an exciting time to join Aureus School as we grow into our fifth year and see the staffing structure develop. The Head of Humanities will be responsible for the strategic lead and management of a small, but growing team of experienced and dedicated teachers. This is a rare leadership opportunity to provide clear, effective guidance to colleagues, developing their teaching practice and maximise standards of student attainment.

The Head of Humanities will be responsible for the Humanities curriculum in addition to contributing to the co-curricular programme of learning outside of the classroom . An inspiring leader, technically knowledgeable with a passion for promoting and delivering the school-wide participation in Global events that is a hallmark of an excellent Humanities Department. In this crucial role, the Head of Humanities will lead a team of Geography, History, Ethics, Business Studies and Global Citizenship teachers and promote active involvement from the School’s classroom teaching staff in Humanities Department activities and events such as field trips for all subjects and the UCL Holocaust Beacon School programme. Strong communication skills will be essential as the post-holder seeks to develop the interest and involvement of students, parents and colleagues in the ever-evolving Global Dimension culture of this new school.

Aureus School is a state of the art comprehensive 11-16 school that opened on the Great Western Park, Didcot, in September 2017.
