Head of KS4 Science job summary

Due to our rapid rate of expansion, we are looking to strengthen and grow our Science Department. We hope to appoint a dynamic member of the Science department who is able to inspire pupils, be innovative and achieve outstanding results. The specific TLR for this post is to oversee the delivery and analysis of KS4 data. The successful candidate will have a key role in supporting the Subject Leader for Science. The Academy provides extensive opportunities for Professional Development including links to LTSA, LLP and GPTSA which would particularly benefit those wishing to progress to leadership. Staff have been well supported in recent years in gaining NPQ qualifications as well as higher level degrees.

The Science Department has had significant investment over recent years and is supported by a dedicated Technician. As well as the regular laboratories, the Department also has tiered lecture style facilities. The Department is well resourced and laptops are provided to all staff. KS3 pupils follow an inspiring three-year practical course leading to Combined or Triple Science in KS4. There has been significant investment over the summer on new texts both at KS3 and KS4 including an e-learning package. It is also planned to fully refurbish the Science labs during the Summer of 2021, with a significant re-building of the Science block and classrooms.
