Head of Marketing and Community Engagement job summary

Overview

The Head of Marketing and Community Engagement is a newly created position whose purpose is to develop the Trust’s brand advocacy whilst also supporting Astrea’s school leaders in enhancing their marketing and community engagement work. Working across our 26 schools in 4 regions, the successful candidate will not only own our web presence and develop and deliver a programme of annual publications, including annual performance reviews and strategy updates, but will also focus on supporting school leaders to develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Marketing and Relationship Building:
    • Develop and execute marketing strategies to raise the trust’s profile and promote its schools, including the development and promotion of annual publications for external stakeholders.
    • Advise School Leaders on building strong relationships with parents and other stakeholder groups, considering their unique contexts.
    • Lead the development of the trust’s online presence, followed by accountability for ensuring that website content is timely, relevant and of a high quality.
    • Create and maintain website content to showcase the trust’s achievements, programmes, and community impact.
    • Develop and promote the Trust’s value proposition to schools who might want to join the Trust in the future.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Implement programmes at school-level to enhance brand advocacy and positivity within local communities.
    • Actively support schools in setting up Parent Advisory Committees, fostering collaboration and feedback.
    • Monitor and assess the impact of community engagement initiatives, gathering insights for continuous improvement.
  • Digital Presence:
    • Manage the trust’s website and social media platforms.
    • Review and refresh the Trust’s website and online presence.
    • Create thoughtful, high-impact campaigns delivering key messages to all stakeholders, supporting brand health and brand strength as an educational provider of choice and employer of choice.Work with the recruitment function to optimise online presence to attract prospective staff in all roles, as well as enhancing the Trust and schools’ attractiveness to students, parents, and community members.
    • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Organisation Development
  • o Develop and create content in support of the People and Organisational Development team, including recruitment marketing, optimising content channels, content publishing schedules understanding audience engagement periods to maximise engagement.

    o Create content to support company culture, internal communications, internal document publishing / brochures, employee campaigns to deliver shared goals and common purpose raising the brand of the Trust.

  • Reporting and Collaboration:
    • Report directly to the Assistant CEO.
    • Collaborate with the Trust’s retained PR agency for strategic communications positioning, messaging and media handling.
    • Work closely with the Trust’s people directorate to align marketing and engagement with internal communications.

    Person Specification

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant experience and a proven track record in successful marketing, with strong written communication style.
    • Proven experience in strategic marketing, preferably within the education sector.
    • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and brand management, including discernment between internal and external audiences.
    • Experience of working in a distributed organisation.
    • Experience of WordPress content management system (CMS), WordPress plugin libraries and an understanding of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
    • Experience working with graphic design and marketing software.

    • Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically.
    • Leadership and team management skills.
    • Analytical skills to measure campaign effectiveness.
    • Relationship-building abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders.

    Additional Information

    • Location: A substantial presence in the trust’s Sheffield head office and in schools in Cambridgeshire and South Yorkshire will be required, with specific arrangements subject to negotiation.
    • Travel between schools is a requirement of the role, as the postholder will be expected to build face to face relationships with key colleagues. On this basis, the postholder will be expected to be able to make his or her own arrangements for travel between sites.
