The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced maths teacher, ideally with previous leadership experience to become Head of Maths here at Brighton Hill Community school. You will be part of our collaborative Middle Leadership Team that makes success inevitable for all our students. The successful candidate will provide and articulate a clear vision for the working practices of a successful team, alongside the maintenance and implementation ofinnovative new strategic initiatives that will continue the trend of outstanding progress and attainment in the Maths Faculty. You will be responsible for promoting an environment where teachers are effective in their work and students are motivated to learn. This role is pivotal in continuing to raise standards of academic achievement and enabling students' personal and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:Working alongside your 'Second in Faculty' provide strategic leadership and management of the Maths Faculty, including staff appointments, delegation of responsibilities, and supervision of all staff within the team.
  • Teaching and Learning:Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, develop and review Schemes of Work, and ensure the delivery of the National Curriculum. Collaborate with a highly experienced Lead Practitioner - Maths.
  • Student Progress:Track and monitor student progress, conduct student progress review meetings, and oversee the system of monitoring student progress against agreed targets.
  • Staff Development:Support the continuing professional development of staff within the team and oversee the relevant sections of the school's Performance Management Process.
  • Resource Management:Plan and manage the Faculty's budget, ensure the maintenance and security of all books and equipment, and forecast future needs against predicted budgets.
  • Health and Safety:Ensure the Faculty's implementation of the Health and Safety policy and monitor the quality of the fabric of the rooms and community areas within the Faculty area.
