This is a rare opportunity to lead a large and successful Maths faculty to even greater things at a key moment for our school. We are looking for a Head of Maths confident enough to lead a faculty that already performs very well, and capable enough to make it one of the very best in the country.
Lymm High School is a well-established, 11-18 school with over 1950 students (400 in the 6th form) and exceptional resources, including 28 acres of beautiful grounds, a swimming pool, leisure complex and our own residential centre in Anglesey. Rapid and sustained improvement in recent years led to a Progress 8 score of 0.56 in 2019, with 9-4 and 9-5 basics measures at 70% and 90% respectively. It is also a lovely place in which to work; in addition to good fortune with our physical surroundings, staff are exceptionally positive, committed and supportive.
The Maths faculty is one of the strongest in the school and includes many talented, dedicated teachers. Results have been consistently excellent in recent years: for example, 92% of GCSE students gained grades 9-4 in 2019, with 75% grades 9-5, 38% grades 9-7 and a Progress 8 score of 0.75. Outcomes at A’ level are also very strong and we typically have at least three A’ level Maths classes, as well as good numbers taking Further Maths.
At the same time, there is certainly scope for the right person to move the faculty on further over the next few years. If you are an experienced candidate with the right track record, we will ensure you have the opportunities to enable you to move into senior leadership rapidly. If you are a little less experienced but can demonstrate the talent and ambition we are looking for, then we will provide all the support you need to make your mark.
Please see the linked documents or our website for further details, including a letter from the Headteacher. Please do contact recruitment@lymmhigh.org.uk with any queries.
