St. Mary Magdalene is a popular and successful school with two school campuses; a primary site in Woolwich and a state of the art all through site on the Greenwich Peninsula. It leads a federation with another primary school in Greenwich (SE10), Christ Church – the Koinonia Federation.

St Mary Magdalene’s secondary phase opened in September 2016 and provides a total of 900 places for students aged 11-16. It also offers a sixth form provision which opened in September 2021, providing 150 places for students in Year 12 and from September 2022 will offer a further 150 places for students in Year 13.

We are looking to appoint a Head of Media Studies to join our expanding secondary phase.

Applications will be considered and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to come in for a lesson observation and interview.

We reserve the right to close this listing early if a large number of favourable applications are received.

The Koinonia Federation consists of two schools over three campuses: our original school - St Mary Magdalene C of E in Woolwich, our new All Through St Mary Magdalene C of E Campus on the Greenwich Peninsula and Christ Church C of E Primary in Greenwich. Leaders have created a clear vision and direction for the school. The school’s values of ‘family, faith and fellowship’ are rooted in the shared ethos across the school sites. (OfSTED 2018)

Our Federation motto of ‘Faith, Family and Fellowship’ is central to all our work. Our family focussed and innovative approach to securing success for every child in our care provides our pupils with a unique learning experience. Both St Mary Magdalene and Christ Church schools have received Outstanding/Excellent grades in their recent SIAMS inspection. Our two schools work in collaboration, which has helped us share our expertise in delivering high quality education to the pupils of Greenwich.

We have strong Parish links with our churches and work closely with them so that we encourage fellowship throughout our communities. We have church services at least once a term and the pupils work hard to be out reaching and support charities with harvest gifts, food bank supplies and other fund raising activities.

At each of our schools we nurture pupils from all backgrounds with care and dignity: developing them academically as well as supporting any spiritual and special individual needs they may have. We are inclusive and our explicit and deeply embedded Christian ethos permeates all that we do. Our staff routinely go the ‘extra mile’ for pupils and families, we are proud of our successful and effective working relationships.

Our curriculum provides a strong framework through which every pupil can continue to grow. Our pupils benefit from a range of visits in this country and further afield at the secondary phase which enhance and extend their life experiences. The theatres, museums and galleries of London provide numerous prospects for pupils to enrich classroom based learning. Pupils are offered rich opportunities within and beyond the academic curriculum to find and develop a lifelong love of learning.

The links between home and school are very important to us and seen as a strength of the Federation. We are very fortunate to have full time Home School Link Workers who can support families if they have any concerns.

We aim for the highest standards of behaviour, co-operation, understanding and individual achievement, which are made possible by home and school working together in close partnership.
